TABLOID (15) 2.30

(US 2010) dir. Errol Morris. 88m. Digital.
Joyce Mckenna, Jackson Shaw, Troy Williams, Kent Gavin.

Before Lindsay and Britney there was Joyce. The romantic obsessions and delusions of former "beauty queen" Joyce McKinney catapulted her over the edge into tabloid press headlines and an unimaginable life in the late 1970's. Errol Morris' stranger than fiction documentary revisits a surreal world of gunpoint abduction, manacled Mormons, oddball accomplices, bondage modeling, magic underwear and dreams of celestial unions. Part love story, part demented fairy tale, this is a portrait of hysteria, both public and personal, on a grand scale.

It embraces the post contemporary with passion as it pushes aside the mundane. Let Granny Ludski take you under her wing, as she softly reassures, 'Put down that interface, honey child, there's no need to be alone!'

'At Home with the Ludskis' is an anonymous curatorial team, based in Shacklewell, London. The Ludskis complement their curation with an open submission strand.
